About

In Psalm 8 , David asks of God, 'Who am I that You are mindful of me?' If you see me and I look puzzled, it's because this same question often keeps me distracted...

The Gift of Worship

There's a great discussion going on over at the 'Shlog' about worship.

People are basically arguing about the question, "What is worship?"

This video from Sermon Spice takes a good stab at it:

whenever someone says they can't worship because of any music style, that gives us a great opportunity... to see their idols.

i have recently become convinced that worship leadership and pastoral leading as a lead worshiper is chiefly concerned with "Idol Smashing."

You: complain about a "worship style," make a "worship style" your idol, and I will expose it as the idolatry it is and, with the Spirit's conviction on your heart, we will smash your idols.

I wouldn't call it an argument over on my blog at all. Hopefully you didn't mean that it was either.

Thanks for the linkage. And thanks for reading along.

It's a long series so keep stopping by. It'll get REAL interesting before long. Maybe even something to argue about ; )

    Hey Shaun,

Thanks for your comment, and for the great stuff you keep coming at the shlog.

It gives me some great relief from a pretty boring job where I'm often waiting for something before I can continue to get my work done.

And I can understand why the word 'argue' might make you nervous,
I think most people would agree.

I spent a couple of years in the philosophy department when I was in college, and they drilled it in our head that whenever two people disagree about something, and are discussing it, then those people are arguing, and that is good.

    Dictionary.com also gives this definition:

"to present reasons for or against a thing"

Neverless, 'argue' seems to connotate anger, bitterness, and/or pride, and those are most certainly not present over at the Shlog :0)

    Keep at 'em brother,
