About

In Psalm 8 , David asks of God, 'Who am I that You are mindful of me?' If you see me and I look puzzled, it's because this same question often keeps me distracted...

Birthday Video

My Mom, the incredibly thoughtful and selfless woman who she is, paid a fella at our church to make up a birthday video for me. I broke it up into two parts to share with you. They're big though :0)

(these videos require a free quicktime player)

Part 1 (first 16 years) :

Part 2 (high school, college, and beyond):

Let me know what you think :0)

    Hey Zack...
Well I hope you'll get this, you don't know me...but I had an unusual set of circumstances that led me to your blog, and there was a girl who was led to my blog a few years ago, and now I understand what she went through, anyway...I was reading Louie Giglio's book, "i am not but i know I AM," and he references the book, the universe 365 days and then a google search linked me to your site, God is the Gospel, anyway it was really neat to see part of your life and how you've been affected by him. I'm spending my time today to rest with my Dad (God). I live in East Asia, I noticed you had some affiliation possibly with Campus Crusade for Christ (or your friend does) let's just say I'm working with them in one of those large countries. I would love to hear what you're up to in life, and how I can be praying for you, because Jesus simply led me to your site, and it was privilege to learn a little about you and how I can be praying for you. My name is BJ Achim, I'm from Wisconsin, and am 24, just graduated from there, a year and a half ago. top

Hi BJ. I'm glad you wrote me, but you didn't leave a reply address, so I'll have to leave my response here...

I actually haven't used the 'god is the gospel' website for about a year now...

My wife and I were both keep separate blogs, and it really confused our less tech-savvy friends and family, so we combined them into one at www.TheRieslands.com

Anyways, yes, Louie Giglio has certainly been one of the most important people in my life who I've never met. I listen to everything I can get my hands on by him. After I read that book, I downloaded the audio and listened a couple more times... it's a message I need to hear!

And interestingly, I spent a year in Central Asia with Campus Crusade for Christ. God really used that ministry at NC State University to step up my walk with him about a million percent.
My team actually got kicked out of the country where we were serving, and when I came home, I met my wife and got married, so now we're making long-term plans to go back together some day!

So are you in 'East Asia', as in the land of big earthquakes and the olympics? It sounds like God is really on the move there! How are things going for you so far?

My stint year was one of the best and by far the hardest year of my whole life. Has that been your experience?

To answer your question, you can pray for God to give me balance as I'm trying to work a full-time job, learn to be a husband and father, and serve in our church!

    How about you? top
